MSCHE Self Study April 2021
For example, we have been conducting Student Surveys of courses and clinic rotations electronically for approximately seven years and have continued to use this information to guide decision making. The surveys were modified to reflect the change to remote access delivery of lectures, seminars, some labs, and discussion groups. Additionally, clinic student surveys were modified to obtain student evaluations on remote access clinical education alternatives. Feedback on the virtual clinic alternatives provided some of the impetus to develop additional formal opportunities for case management and decision making in the third year clinical curriculum.
Standard VI: Planning, Resources, and Institutional Improvement
Linkage of Standard to Institutional Priorities The self ‐ study institutional priorities come directly from the College’s Strategic Plan 2018 ‐ 23 . These priorities will be implemented through annual performance expectations established by senior administrators and an annual budgeting process that is linked to the strategic plan and discussed in this standard. The self ‐ study institutional priorities are as follows: 1. Enhance the student experience through programs that promote student and alumni success (Strategic Plan Goal 1) 2. Deliver a dynamic curriculum that engages students and advances contemporary optometry (Strategic Plan Goal 2) 3. Grow the graduate and research programs to increase the institutional impact on the advancement of knowledge and to produce leaders in vision research (basic, translational and clinical) (Strategic Plan Goal 3) COVID ‐ 19 Impact : The COVID ‐ 19 pandemic has had a significant impact on College resources in the near term with potentially lingering financial implications for the future. As part of the pandemic response, each campus in the SUNY system developed three financial planning scenarios: Base, Best and Worst case ( COVID Scenario Planning ). Given the potential impact on the College’s resources, we are integrating COVID Impact statements in this standard where appropriate and providing additional documents in the list of evidence as appropriate. Toward the end of February 2020, the President established an emergency response team known as the COVIDERT. The COVIDERT oversees all pandemic related activities to ensure that the College community is protected from the pandemic and can continue to be fully operational, albeit in many cases remotely ( Campus Ramp ‐ Up Plan ).
