MSCHE Self Study April 2021

As described in the College’s Assessment Plan , assessment of student learning at the program level occurs through multiple mechanisms and data sources, including  Envision attendance  attendance at continuing education events other than Envision  completion of written examinations (certain courses)  surveys completed by course attendees  observation of courses by the director of continuing professional education Examples of modifications to the program based on this assessment include:  Expansion of program offerings tailored to fill knowledge gaps as identified in surveys  Creation of on ‐ line CE programs (With the change in New York State in 2015 allowing live on ‐ line programs to be considered as live CE, the utilization of on ‐ line webinars increased significantly.)  Administrative assistant moved to college salary line to redirect budget to programs Conclusions: Strengths, Challenges and Opportunities The College has developed curricular learning objectives derivative of its mission for all educational programs. Attainment of these objectives, as well as the institutional priorities identified at the beginning of this standard, is supported by the College’s published assessment plan, which details data and processes for each program and operational unit. This assessment plan is reviewed and revised in conjunction with the strategic planning process that occurs every five years. Although we believe assessment of achievement of the two institutional priorities for this standard is strong, it might be enhanced through additional and timelier data from graduates regarding their perceptions of the preparation received to practice to the full scope of their professional licenses. While the current OD Exit Survey provides valuable data in this regard, more comprehensive and timely data on practice patterns is desirable. We are exploring additional mechanisms, including revision of the exit survey as well as establishing a web ‐ based system to maintain contact with a representative sample of graduates, to obtain these data.

COVID ‐ 19 Impact: The institutional response to COVID ‐ 19 has not affected our assessment programs. We have continued to conduct regular meetings at the program level throughout the pandemic and have continued to collect information and modified program activities accordingly.
