Loss of Major Utility Loss of Electricity
Any loss of electricity should be reported to Facilities Department immediately at ext. 5944 or 5579. Each clinical service should follow specific procedures located in the Policy and Procedure Manual. The College has a 750Kw Emergency Generator located on the roof with a day tank capacity of 300 Gallons and a reserved tank of 4000 Gallons. The generator is able to provide continuous power to critical facility and all life safety equipment.
Loss of Water
Any loss of water should be reported to Facilities Department immediately. Each service should follow specific procedures located in the Policy and Procedure Manuals.
Violent Critical Incidents (Active Shooter/Armed Assailant)
1. Any employee with knowledge of a violent critical incident should call the University Police Department immediately. 2. Anyone with pertinent information concerning the situation should immediately communicate with the University Police Desk. 3. UPD will make an announcement alerting the community through the emergency announcement system. UPD will also initiate the notification of the call tree to initiate the activation of the college’s emergency mass notification system. 4. UPD will notify NYPD to provide assistance in line with the memorandum of understanding between both agencies. Performance Improvement - Criteria to Measure Effectiveness All emergency preparedness activities are monitored and critiqued. A written summary is prepared by the Environmental Safety and Infection Control Committee and presented to the Quality Assessment and Improvement Committee. This process will allow the University Eye Center to track trends and patterns. Reports will be shared with the Environmental Safety and Infection Control Committee.
