The navy lab coat will be used during the first and second years, and students will receive their white lab coat during their White Coat Ceremony at the end of the second year. We recommend that you buy the coat through Pulse Uniform by visiting their website. • Buying online: Lab coats can be purchased from Pulse Uniform at the link below. The NAVY BLUE option should be selected and the coat should not be personalized or embroidered (we will provide you with a name tag and SUNY patch). Coats will NOT be needed during orientation but should be available for your first day of classes. 1. www.pulseuniform.com Scrubs: Under the lab coat, students have the option of either wearing formal clinic attire (as noted in the Student Handbook) or scrubs. While scrubs are sold by numerous companies, the only requirement is that they are royal blue. Depending on the vendor, it may be called by a different name but it must match the color noted as royal blue on the Pulse Uniform website. The majority of students chose to wear scrubs instead of clinic attire while in clinics and labs. The requirements listed above are not all-encompassing. Circumstances may arise which are not covered by this policy. Any decision on the interpretation of this policy is at the discretion of your supervisor, your clinical instructor, the service chief, the Chief Medical Officer or the VP for Clinical Administration. In addition to the above, the following items are not permitted: Denim clothing or similarly casual fabric, skirts and pants with cargo pockets, and Capri’s or cropped pants. Failure to comply with these standards may result in disciplinary actions including a lowering of the clinical grade, and dismissal from the clinic assignment and being charged with an unexcused absence.
