Faculty Handbook
PART 2: LONG TERM PROFESSIONAL GOALS, OBJECTIVES, AND STRATEGIES PROCEDURE:
Considering your values and aspirations, identify a few long-term goals (3-5 years) as it pertains to 1) Scholarship, 2) Teaching & Education, 3) University, National, and International Service, and 4) Clinical/Patient Care. Also, consider how your goals align with institutional priorities. Write your goals using the SMART criteria; goals should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and have a Time Frame. Remember, a goal represents the overarching, “big picture” goal; objectives are mini-goals tied to that larger goal; strategies are action items and developmental activities that help you achieve your goals and objectives.
List your long-term (3-5 years) goals, objectives, and strategies in the following areas:
1. SCHOLARSHIP/RESEARCH
2. TEACHING/EDUCATION
3. ADMINISTRATIVE/SERVICE
4. CLINICAL/PATIENT CARE
5. Do you foresee any major challenges that stand in the way of you achieving any of your long-term goals? Please list and describe them.
