The following policy is published on page 6 of the College’s Student Handbook (https://www.sunyopt.edu/pdfs/academics/StudentHandbook2018.pdf or Appendix VI-19 ): Formal Complaint Procedure for Students Formal complaints that are not academic in nature are addressed in the SUNY College of Optometry’s Formal Complaint Procedure for Students, below. If the complaint is against the vice president for student affairs and international programs, the formal complaint can be made to the president of the College. • Upon receipt, the vice president for student affairs and international programs will forward the complaint to an appropriate College authority, usually another vice president, who has the authority to address the complaint. In certain situations, the vice president for student affairs and international programs may be deemed the appropriate authority to address a particular formal complaint. • An acknowledgement of the complaint will be sent in writing by the appropriate College authority to the complainant (and a copy will be sent to the vice president for student affairs and international programs) within 10 business days of the date the written complaint is received by the vice president for student affairs and international programs. • The appropriate College authority will provide a written response to the complainant (and a copy will be sent to the vice president for student affairs and international programs) within
