Actuarial Assumptions The total pension liability for the March 31, 2017 mea- surement date was determined by using an actuarial valuation as of April 1, 2016, with update procedures used to roll forward the total pension liability to March 31, 2017. The actuarial valuation for both ERS and PFRS used the following actuarial assumptions:
The amounts of deferred outflows of resources resulting from contributions made subsequent to the measurement date will be recognized as a reduction of the net pension liability in the next fiscal year. Remain- ing amounts reported as deferred outflows of resources and deferred inflows of resources related to pensions for Lottery will be recognized in future pension expense in the amount of $1 million each year over the next three fiscal years and ($1) million in the fourth year.
