Similar to a confidence trick or simple fraud, the term applies to the use of deception to gain information, commit fraud or access computer systems. – Non-technical or low-technology means, such as lies, impersonation, tricks, bribes, blackmail, and threats - used to attack information systems – Can occur in-person, over the phone, in emails or fake web pages
