APPENDIX N:

OPEN ACCESS POLICY

State University of New York College of Optometry Open Access Policy Approved by Faculty, March 9, 2020

The SUNY College of Optometry seeks to disseminate its scholarly activity and research productivity as widely as possible. The College strongly encourages faculty and students to publish in the highest impact peer-reviewed journals and in open access journals, whenever possible. To enhance the dissemination of new knowledge and its contributions to the public, and scientific and health care communities, the College maintains an open digital repository of its publications. All journal publications by college faculty, staff, and students will be placed in the SUNY Optometry Repository upon acceptance or publication or following an embargo period imposed by a commercial publisher. Books, book chapters, and conference proceedings will be made available if copyright agreements allow. Senior authors affiliated with the College are responsible for notifying the Director of Library Services of newly accepted publications, providing an electronic copy of an accepted pre-publication or a post-publication version, as well as information regarding any required embargo period. If, due to publisher policies, authors are prevented from submitting their scholarly articles to the repository, a waiver will be granted allowing submission of full citation information to the library in lieu of the publication.
