CLINICAL EDUCATION COUNCIL Reviewed May 2019

PURPOSE: Meets regularly to assess, plan, implement and evaluate operations related to the clinical education of students and residents. PRINCIPLE REPORTING LINK: Vice president for academic affairs and vice president of clinical Administration. MEMBERSHIP: Appointments are made by the Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs and the Vice President for Clinical Administration, but is linked to the following appointed positions: 1. Chair of the Department of Clinical Education (Committee Chair) 2. UEC Chief Medical Officer 3. Chief of the Adult and Pediatric Primary Care Service 4. Chief of the Advanced Care Service 5. Chief of the Visual Rehabilitation Service 6. Director of Externships 7. Director of Residency Education SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS: The vice presidents will ask the Clinical Education Council to generate ideas, evaluate programs, make decisions, and provide advice on the following: • Long-range planning for clinical education at the college, • Strategies for the achieving the College's clinical education priorities within the clinical care environment. • Development and implementation of clinical educational program, • Development and implementation of assessment methods for students, residents, and clinical supervisors, • Advise and consult on matters relative to the integration of educational programs into the patient care delivery system of the UEC and externship sites. DECISION MAKING: Minutes of all meetings will be kept . Recommendations to the VPAA will be based upon a majority vote of those present. 8. 3rd Year Clinical Instructor(s) of Record 9. 4th Year Clinical Instructor(s) of Record 10.
