Dear Friends: It is a pleasure to welcome everyone as the Optometric Center of New York hosts Reframed: Eyes on New York Award Celebration 2020. New York has long demonstrated global excellence in health care, and we owe a debt of gratitude to the many institutions working to improve public health throughout the five boroughs, especially as we fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Established in 1956, the SUNY College of Optometry and its Optometric Center of New York are leaders in the field of vision care, sponsoring scholarships for optometry students, training the next generation of medical professionals, funding innovative research, and providing high-quality services to diverse New Yorkers, including people from underserved communities. As you gather virtually to advance this shared mission, I applaud everyone associated with the College and Center for their efforts to strengthen our healthcare sector and improve the wellbeing of our residents during this challenging time. Together, we are forging a brighter, healthier future for all. On behalf of all New Yorkers, congratulations to tonight’s honorees.
