Policy:

This plan describes the established policies and procedures of the University Eye Center in the event of an emergency and provides direction to be followed by all employees of the University Eye Center. The guidelines on operational instructions established herein are to assist the University Eye Center in reacting in a safe and efficient manner in the event of an emergency or disaster.

Procedure : Responsibility

The Vice President for Clinical Administration and Executive Director of UEC, in conjunction with the Chief of University Police, are responsible for assuring that this plan is properly implemented. The Assistant Chief of Police/Emergency Management Coordinator is responsible for maintaining emergency management operation, fire alarm detection systems, emergency communication systems, fire exits, smoke detectors, standpipe hoses, emergency lights, elevator system, sprinkler system, and fire command station. The Assistant Chief of Police, Director of Management Services, and the Environmental Health and Safety Officer are responsible for the coordination of in house emergency management operations. New employees are provided with an initial orientation, which covers important aspects of the Emergency Response Plan and employee responsibilities. Employees are encouraged to download SafeInSight App on their personal cell phones. SafeInSight is the official safety and resource app for the College. The app features information on emergency procedures, useful resources, and reporting options. All employees are required to complete an online Annual Compliance Training, which covers various information about the college’s Emergency Preparedness Plan and safety policies and procedures.
